PARENT FAQ

What ages can participate?

Children ages 5–17 can participate. Younger kids can team up with a parent or sibling. This is designed to be beginner-friendly — no experience needed!

Does my child need a business or product already?

Nope! Most kids start with just an idea.
We encourage simple things like crafts, slime, art, jewelry, baked goods, lemonade stands, games, or handmade creations.

Do parents have to stay?

Yes — a parent or guardian must remain at the market during the event.
This is a family experience and helps kids feel supported and confident.

What if they don’t sell anything?

That’s part of learning!
Kids still gain confidence, communication skills, and experience running a real booth — which is the real goal.

Is food allowed?

Yes — homemade baked goods and pre-packaged foods are allowed following cottage food guidelines (details sent after signup).

Vendor Participation

Little Local is a curated youth entrepreneur experience.
To keep the event organized, safe, and well-run, accepted vendors participate with a small vendor contribution.

This contribution helps cover:
• venue coordination
• event materials
• marketing & promotion
• support staff & setup
• youth business resources

Vendor details and payment instructions are sent after acceptance.

What can they sell?

Almost anything handmade, created, or kid-run!
Examples: art, crafts, baked goods, bracelets, stickers, toys, books, slime, games, services, or inventions.

All products must be created and run by the child. Little Local is designed to showcase youth entrepreneurs so children may not sell items made or operated by parents or adults on their behalf.

(No reselling store-bought items.)

Do they keep the money they make?

Yes! 100% of profits belong to the child.
This teaches responsibility, budgeting, and pride in their work.

What should we bring?

A small table setup, chairs, product display, and a way to collect money.
We’ll send a checklist after registration.

How do we sign up?
